RPS board picks ‘Overland’ for name of new elementary school

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — In a 6-1 vote Tuesday night, the Rochester Public Schools board decided the name of the district’s new elementary school will be Overland Elementary School.

The option of Henry Plummer was voted down in a vote just before the vote to approve Overland.

This vote comes after a non-decision about the school’s name during a RPS board meeting earlier this month.

The school at 2300 Overland Drive NW is scheduled to open in September.
