Our next weather maker will move in for the overnight hours and last into Sunday morning. Rain and a wintery mix is expected to begin after 8pm and become all snow sometime after midnight. Light snow is expected to last into Sunday morning and taper off after 10am. Anywhere from 0 to 2 inches of snow is possible within the forecast area, but if there is a slight shift in the storm track, there will be a change in our expected snow totals. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 9pm Saturday until 10am Sunday for Goodhue, Rice, Steele, and Wabasha Counties. The wintry mix could create some light icing on roads and sidewalks, so be sure to use extra caution if you have to travel at all overnight or Sunday.
Overnight lows will be mild in the low 30s with light winds out of the southeast at 5-10 mph. Another issue we will have to deal with later tonight, is the development of patchy fog after the precipitation moves in.
Once the light snow tapers off after 10am Sunday, cloud cover will gradually decrease throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the low 30s. Slightly cooler temperatures are on the way for Monday with highs in the mid 20s with widespread sunshine.
A quiet weather pattern settles in for the remainder of the week with highs in the upper 30s on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. Afternoon temperatures climb into the low 40s on Wednesday and Thursday with pleasant sunshine. Similar conditions continue into Friday and Sunday.
