A May-like Tuesday
We have yet another unseasonably warm day ahead of us today as the entire area remains in the warm sector of a large storm system that is slowly approaching from the southwest. While clouds will be a little more prevalent throughout the day, temperatures will still manage to warm into the lower 70s with just a few breaks of sunshine and a southeast breeze. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible in the late morning to early afternoon with sparse shower chances in the afternoon. More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected from the evening commute through late tonight as the center of that storm system crosses the Missouri Valley and toward the heart of our area.
Cooler, wetter Thursday
Thicker clouds and more persistent rain chances will make for a slightly cooler Thursday as the center of the upcoming storm system moves across the area. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the lower 60s with a light southeast breeze. Rainfall totals between Wednesday night and Thursday will be around half an inch.
Showers taper off early in the weekend
We'll have scattered showers and brisk west winds Friday on the backside of the storm system. High temperatures will be in the mid-50s which is pretty typical for early April.
A few spotty rain showers will be possible Saturday with a brisk northwest breeze and a few breaks of sunshine also possible. High temperatures will be in the lower 50s Saturday afternoon.
Sunday looks drier, sunnier, and warmer as we'll finally be out of the grip of the departing storm system. Look for abundant sunshine with high temperatures in the lower 60s and a light northwest breeze.
Seasonably cool next week
A weak storm system will move through the area next Monday, bringing clouds and a few scattered showers to start the workweek. With a few glimpses at the sun possible between those showers, high temperatures will be in the lower 50s.
A spotty shower or two will be possible early next Tuesday on the backside of the weak storm system. We'll have occasional sunshine during the day with brisk winds and high temperatures will be in the upper 40s.
We'll have a slight chance of rain showers next Wednesday with high temperatures in the mid-50s and then more of those seasonable mid-50 degree highs for the end of the week with a fair amount of sunshine.
