A sunnier, warmer Friday
After an entire week of non-stop dreariness and chilly weather, we're finally turning the corner today with plenty of sunshine expected across the area for a change and it looks like a more seasonably mild situation to round out the week. Expect abundant sunshine today, especially for the morning hours before thin clouds trickle in from the west in the afternoon and early evening. High temperatures will be in the mid-50s with a light north breeze, making this likely the warmest day since last Thursday.
A seasonably chilly Friday night
Temperatures this evening will cool from the low 50s around sunset to the lower 40s around midnight. Overnight lows will be in the mid-30s with some passing clouds and a light north breeze.
A few extra clouds will move through the area Saturday, especially in the morning as a large storm system grazes the region to the south. We'll have occasional sunshine throughout the afternoon with a slight northwest breeze and high temperatures will be in the mid-50s.
A pleasant Sunday
Sunday looks brighter and more pleasant as high pressure from the Plains drifts through the Missouri Valley to our west. We'll have plenty of sunshine throughout the day with a slight westerly breeze and high temperatures will be in the mid and upper 50s across the area.
A potent Monday cold front
Clouds will thicken first thing Monday morning with a chance for some scattered rain showers associated with a potent cold front that will quickly slide through the area. Expect the shower activity to linger in the area until early in the evening while brisk northwest winds blow colder air into the Upper Mississippi Valley. Temperatures will start in the mid-30s and climb only into the lower 40s while the harsh winds create wind chill indices in the upper 20s to mid-30s for most of the day.
A cool midweek
Cold air will linger in the region behind Monday's cold front as high pressure slowly approaches from the northwest. We'll have chilly sunshine Tuesday with brisk winds and high temperatures in the lower 40s.
Wednesday will be slightly less breezy and a little warmer with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 40s.
Milder late next week
Warmer air will build in for Thursday with high temperatures possibly approaching 60 degrees. Clouds will thicken later that night with some scattered showers possibly developing late Thursday night and for parts of next Friday. High temperatures will be in the lower 50 next Friday afternoon with sunnier skies and high temperatures in the 50s for next weekend.
