Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office mourning loss of deputy

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson announced Friday the on-duty passing of an Olmsted County detention deputy.

Torgerson said 52-year-old detention deputy Mark Anderson was found unresponsive by a colleague Thursday around 9:30 a.m. in a locker room at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.

First responders administered aid and Mayo Ambulance transported Anderson to Mayo Clinic St. Marys where he was pronounced deceased.

Torgerson said the cause of death is believed to have been caused by a medical incident.

Anderson was an 11- year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He had previously worked as a counselor for at-risk youth and young adults.
