PINE ISLAND, Minn. (FOX 47) -- One sure sign that summer is around the corner is garage sale signs.
And in case you were looking for something fun to do on this beautiful weekend, Pine Island is having its Citywide Garage Sales and craft and vendor market through Saturday.
Pine Island always hosts the event on the last weekend of April.
In fact, it's said to be one of the first citywide garage sale events in the region each year.
Five years ago the craft and vendor market was added to show off micro-businesses in the community.
The COVID-19 pandemic canceled the event last year.
Vendors and Pine Island residents say things were busy all day Friday with a big turnout.
"In talking to the indoor and the outdoor vendors, they've all been really pleased with the foot traffic but also the sales too," said Janet Hanke, Pine Island Area Chamber of Commerce President. "So I think that, yeah, that year off kind of had everybody itchy to get out and see their neighbors, and also maybe spend a little money too."
Hanke said there are 40 vendors registered, including two food trucks. She estimates there are easily 60 to 70 total garage sales going on in town.
The craft and vendor market runs Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. with garage sales expected to last through the weekend.
