UPDATE: DPS says 1 died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds in Miracle Mile parking lot

UPDATE 2 p.m.: The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has released more details on an incident at the Miracle Mile strip mall parking lot on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from the DPS, an investigation is ongoing after a shooting occurred during a commercial vehicle traffic stop in the Miracle Mile strip mall parking lot.

The release said three state troopers stopped a semitruck for a vehicle inspection at about 6:45 a.m. and attempted to detain the driver for failing to produce identification at about 8:30 a.m. Preliminary investigation shows the driver shot themself. The driver was then taken to Mayo Clinic St. Marys with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said no troopers were injured, and they did not fire their weapons.

The Minnesota BCA and RPD are leading the investigation.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — Multiple agencies are responding to the Miracle Mile strip mall parking lot in Rochester.

Minnesota State troopers and the Rochester Police Department are responding to the scene. Authorities have not provided details about the investigation.

Authorities said there is no threat to the public.
