Court documents: Suspect in Austin homicide fatally shot victim during drug robbery

Miguel Nunez Jr

AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX47) — A man facing murder charges in an Austin shooting is accused of fatally shooting the victim during a drug robbery.

Eighteen-year-old Miguel Nunez Jr., of Sioux Falls, is wanted on second-degree murder charges in the death of 45-year-old David Harris, of Austin.

The shooting happened early Saturday in the 100 block of 12th St. NE.

According to a criminal complaint from Mower County District Court, another victim who was injured in the shooting and lived at the home told detectives that Nunez Jr. came to the residence to buy marijuana. He allegedly came to the home with three other people. The complaint said Nunez threatened to shoot everyone in the residence if they didn’t give him all of the drugs.

Nunez then allegedly shot Harris in the chest, and he died.

Police also reportedly interviewed a juvenile who was present in the vehicle with Nunez, and he allegedly said they had gone to the residence under the guise of buying marijuana, but they intended to rob the residence.

Nunez’s whereabouts are unknown at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement.
