Mild, less windy today; a sunny, warm weekend is ahead

Ted 7 Day Fox

Showers, then sunshine today

A cold front is moving through the region today, bringing slightly cooler, but also calmer weather with just a few showers to start our Friday. Expect scattered, light showers in the area through the mid-morning hours with clearing skies and seasonably mild temperatures in the lower 70s this afternoon. Winds behind this front are much lighter than the strong gusty winds we dealt with Thursday and last night and will only reach 10 to 15 miles per hour at times.

Chilly tonight

High pressure will move into the region from the northwest tonight, helping temperatures drop quickly through the 50s in the evening to the mid-40s in the overnight hours. This will likely be the coolest night of the season thus far, but winds will be rather light, from the west.

A bright, warm weekend

Abundant sunshine and a light south breeze Saturday will help temperatures warm from the 40s and 50s in the morning to the low and mid-70s in the afternoon hours.

Sunday will be breezy and warmer with a mostly sunny sky. High temperatures will be in the low to mid-80s with slightly more humidity in the air.

Cooler weather next week

The upcoming week will start with a taste of summer warmth on Monday before a cold front brings scattered showers and isolated storms to the area in the late afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s which is about ten degrees warmer than the seasonal average.

A few spotty rain showers will be possible to start the day next Tuesday while gusty, cold northwest winds will usher in Canadian air. Even with some afternoon sunshine Tuesday, high temperatures will only reach the mid-60s.

We'll have a mostly sunny sky in the area for the first official day of fall next Wednesday. Temperatures will warm from the lower 40s in the morning to the mid-60s in the afternoon hours.

Thursday and Friday next week will be seasonably mild with high temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s and the weekend that follows looks similarly bright and tranquil with high temperatures near 70 degrees.
