New partnership aims to give Rochester restaurants a helping hand

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on the restaurant business and now, a new collaboration aims to help.

Rochester Downtown Alliance, the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and the food blog CHOOCHOO- ca- CHEW are joining together so people can have a one-stop shop to see all area restaurants. It’s being called the “#ROCHMN” Food Partnership.

The idea is to simplify things to draw more people into the businesses, especially with colder months ahead.

“The weather’s changing, so everything is going to change again,” CHOOCHOO-ca-CHEW Founder Tiffany Alexandria said. “Patios will be closed, and we want to keep people updated on the Rochester food situation.”

Alexandria said the format is more user-friendly. Diners can find out what service options a restaurant uses, its hours, and if they are linked to services like DoorDash.

“We are pleased to collaborate to support our restaurants during this challenging time,” RDA Executive Director Holly Masek and Chamber President Kathleen Harrington said together in a news release.

Right now, there are 77 restaurants on the site. Alexandria said new restaurants are constantly being added and they will soon add ones from areas outside of Rochester.
